Mingora returns often combine tourism, trade in gems or fabric, orchards and remittances. This page explains how each is reported.
Hotels Up the Valley
Room and food income for the season, from registers and platform statements, less staff, food, fuel, maintenance and rent if the building is leased. Hotels owned are depreciated. KPRA tax collected from guests is paid over and is not income. Bookings taken in June for July stays are advances on 30 June.
Gem Dealers
The return shows stones bought and sold, cutting and polishing charges, travel and stock held on 30 June at cost. Documentation of purchases from miners matters, because gem stock is otherwise hard to explain.
Weaving Units
Sales of shawls and fabric against yarn, power, weavers' wages and depreciation of looms.
Orchard Owners
Peaches, apples and persimmons from family orchards are agricultural income.
Employees
Teachers, doctors and officials in Saidu Sharif copy their salary certificates.
Remittances
Money from the Gulf through banks is shown as receipts in the wealth statement.
Former PATA Concessions
Income that was exempt under a concession in a particular year is still declared, as exempt, so that the wealth statement reconciles.
Saidu Sharif Officials and Doctors
Staff of the divisional offices and the teaching hospital copy their salary certificates; doctors with private clinics in Mingora declare clinic fees separately.
Late Filing
A Swat return filed after the deadline is still accepted; rejoining the Active Taxpayers List needs the surcharge.
