Khairpur returns cover date farming and processing, contracts, salaries and land. This page explains what to include.

Date Growers

Dates from your own palms are declared as agricultural income.

Processors

Show purchases of fresh dates, drying, sorting, packing, labour and freight against sales, with stock at 30 June.

Exporters

List export proceeds and tax collected by banks; depending on the regime, this may be final.

Contractors

Show contracts, receipts, withholding and costs.

University Staff

Salary from the certificate, plus consultancy and examining fees.

Landowners

Crop income declared as agricultural, with Sindh tax noted.

Wealth Statement

Palms and land, processing units, vehicles and balances.

Date Season in the Accounts

The date harvest runs from June to August, so a processor's purchases fall at the very end of one tax year and the start of the next. Fresh dates bought in June and still being dried on 30 June are closing stock of the earlier year. Getting this cut-off right avoids showing a false loss in one year and a false profit in the next.

Gas Field Contractors

Contractors list each payment from the gas companies with the tax withheld, deducting fuel, wages and vehicle costs. Some withholding may be minimum tax.

Traders

Shopkeepers and wholesalers show sales, purchases and stock, with advance tax on electricity bills claimed.

Pensioners

Retired teachers and officials declare their pension as exempt and list the land and houses they own.

Their returns also claim any tax withheld on bank profit from savings accounts.
